With the Senate stymied, the House next week will hold three days of floor debate on a resolution disapproving of President Bush’s plans to send 21,500 additional U.S. troops to Iraq.

“The resolution will clearly say we do not believe that the president’s proposal of an escalation of 21,000 troops is the proper policy to be pursuing,” Hoyer said, adding that the language could go beyond that fairly limited statement.
House Democrats had intended to wait for the Senate to act first on its version of a non-binding Iraq resolution, but the leadership abandoned that approach after Senate Republicans blocked the debate in that chamber Monday.
